Do Stars Cry

I lay there under the night sky, the moon full and glaring down at me, the grass soft under me and damp with dew. I had lost track of time hours ago but I was sure that it was at least past midnight. I simply stared at the stars as I lay there, enjoying the beauty of them when a star shot across the sky. As I watched its trail across the dark canvas of the sky, I thought of her and a smile lit up my face. Even though I knew that when I decided to go home I'd be in a crap load of trouble for being out to long and ignoring my phone, I couldn't help but to smile at the simple thought of her.

My eyes fell on a constelation I recognized and I traced it's invisible lines in my mind. It was at that time I heard the soft foot falls of someone aproaching.

"Hey so this is were you get off to, hm?" I heard a voice call to me. My face broke open in excitement and I rolled over onto my stomach and looked up right into her smiling face. The way she was standing in the moonlight, hands on hips, looking down at me, a smile spread across her face, caused the moon to light up her brown hair, making her face seem to glow, a glow equal to that of her eyes and smile. "You know I'm gonna be in deep shit for this right?" she laughed as I unsteadily got to my feet.

I tightly embraced her, "then i guess you're just gonna have to sneak out quite a bit to get out." I smiled as I kissed her tenderly. She laughed as we fell to the soft ground and I held her and we kissed. We ended up my arm around her as she layed next to me looking up at the sky as my eyes were drawn to her.

But perfect moments like that aren't supposed to last, right? That's when we heard the sirens and three squad cars pulled onto the field. The cops got out of thier cars and just stood there as we got up and slowly walked over to them. When we were about halfway across the field the cops drew thier guns, pointing them off to the side. I didn't even see what happened, I just heard the guns and felt the bullets hitting the ground.

I saw the cops fall as I flung her to the ground, following her down. I waited for the sound of gun fire to stop before I got up. I reached down to her but then noticed the blood all over me. I was shocked, I hadn't felt anything. Then I realized she wasn't getting up. I knelt down next to her and felt her pulse...it was non-existant. I didn't even look for the wounds, the bullet holes, the source of her death. I knew what really killed her, and those bastards weren't going to get off with what they had just done. I closed her eyes and kissed her still warm forehead. Had I decided to look up at the sky at that moment, I would've noticed a meteor shower becoming visible. It was almost like the stars were crying mith me.

Walking over to the fallen cops, I felt the tears start to stream down my face until I could hardly even see where I was going. I managed to make it to the squad cars, wiped my eyes, and picked up a gun on the ground. The closest cop happened to still be alive and grabbed my leg. I shot him, finishing him, and took his gun as well. I walked around to all the cops and took each ones gun. One of them also had a lighter, which I took as a plan formed in my mind. I cut open a gas line in one of the cars, drenching myself in gasoline. Ready to exact my revenge I walked into the woods, where I saw the killers dissapear.

There were only three of them, the first of which I found almost as soon as I got past the treeline. He had been shot, so his friends had left him sitting against a tree. Without even stopping, I shot him in the head, twice, threw the gun, and continued on. The other two weren't hard to find at all. They had stopped in a clearing and were arguing about what had happened. I took out two of the guns and emptied them into both of them as walked into the clearing. I took out the last two guns I had and emptied those into the two dead bodies as well. I threw the guns off to the side and pulled out the lighter.

It had been dry so all the trees went up easily. The whole forest burned with me that night.
